Turner: Looking forward to making memories here – News

Evaluating the game as a whole, Turner said: “We were very forward at the beginning of the match, we were defending from the front and this eventually turned into a goal.

“Sometimes the state of the game can change a little bit after you make a change and I think that’s what happened.

“If I were to criticize us a bit tonight, especially in the first half, we didn’t do the best job of getting rid of the ball, clearing the ball, clearing the danger, putting it in the Z row and clearing the ball. We’re doing what we need to do. So I think if we could have fixed that, maybe we wouldn’t have conceded the first goal.”

“But yes, the answer is, well, come on. We were very ahead in the second half. The back line was fantastic tonight. I never felt overly threatened in the second half. The guys played incredibly up front. So front to back, great performance and yeah, put your legs up, recover and get back on track on Saturday.”

Winning back-to-back games over three days is an achievement in itself, but Turner sees it as more than that, as a way to build and develop a winning culture. “You have to earn that winning feeling.

“There have been some games this season where we did a lot of great things but didn’t get results.

“Now the results are starting to turn for us, it’s a good feeling and you can see the players are feeling that energy, they’re feeding off the crowd, they’re feeding off each other, they’re really starting to get to know each other and they’re holding each other higher and the standards are high and challenging too, but in a positive way.

“So the culture is really good right now, but as we know in this business, it’s a results business and you’re only as good as your last game. We finished. “We can put that to rest and look forward to construction.”
