Wilkes-Barre man charged with assault, terroristic threats after domestic dispute on Halloween

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A Wilkes-Barre man was taken into custody Thursday evening following a domestic dispute on Scott Street in which he allegedly threatened to kill another person and attacked him with a porcelain statue, according to city police.

The City of Wilkes-Barre Police Department reports that on Oct. 31 at approximately 6:47 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence after receiving a call regarding a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who alleged that 29-year-old Joseph Rodriguez had become aggressive during a verbal argument. The dispute reportedly started after Rodriguez refused to clean his room, according to police.

During the argument, Rodriguez allegedly threw a porcelain statue at the victim, hitting her in the head. Police said the victim also reported that Rodriguez threatened to kill him and kicked him in the leg. City of Wilkes-Barre EMS personnel treated the injured victim at the scene.

Rodriguez was arrested and transported to City Center; There he was processed and arraigned on charges of assault and making terroristic threats. The investigation of the incident continues.
