In a truly bizarre incident, police in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh responded to an unusual emergency call; A man reported that 250 grams of potatoes were stolen from his home. This interesting incident came to light just before Diwali, when a man named Vijay Verma called the UP-112 helpline and requested action regarding his missing potatoes.

According to TOI’s report, Verma, a resident of Mannapurwa, had prepared the potatoes for cooking and left them for some time. When he returned he discovered they were missing and asked to call the hotline and request a full investigation. When police arrived at Verma’s house, they learned that the “theft” involved only 250 grams of potatoes.

Police face unusual complaint

Responding officers recorded a 5-second video of their interaction with the man, who insisted: “This is what needs to be investigated.” When asked if he drinks, Hardoi admitted that he does, explaining: “Yes, I work hard all day and I drink a little in the evening. But it’s not about the alcohol; it’s about the lost potatoes.”

Another strange encounter: Drunk man and python

In another unusual alcohol-related case, a video has emerged showing a truck driver in a drunken stupor narrowly avoiding a close encounter with a python in Andhra Pradesh’s Singanapalle village. According to the information obtained, the driver drank excessively after a long working day. Too drunk to walk home, he collapsed on a nearby platform and fell asleep.
