A woman from Hisar was arrested for allegedly trying to extort money from former Haryana minister and BJP leader Anoop Dhanak’s brother by threatening to implicate him in a fake rape case, police officials said on Saturday.

Uklana station house officer Gurvinder Singh said that a woman along with her two aides allegedly tried to extort money from former minister Anoop Dhanak’s brother Satish by threatening him to be involved in a fake rape case.

“He was arrested when he came to pick it up.” 2.30 lakhs from Satish Dhanak. He and his two assistants had usurped 13.50 lakhs from the complainant. The woman was demanding Former minister’s brother got Rs 9 lakh by threatening to file a fake rape case against him and his brother Anoop. “We have arrested the absconding woman and her two aides under Sections 308(2), 308(6), 3(5) of the BNS,” the SHO added.

Complainant Satish, in his complaint to the police, said that he was interested in the political affairs of his brother Anoop and that he met a woman from Hisar district two years ago.

“The woman met me through work and we met several times afterwards. After a while, he started threatening me and my sister to include them in a fake rape case and made demands from me. 10 lakhs. On May 14, 2023, my friend Satish told him 6.50 lakhs. He kept blackmailing us and we told him 3 lakhs in Hisar court on 21 September 2023 and 2 lakh in December 2023. The woman and former Kinala village sarpanch Madan Lal demanded 25 lakhs from us during the assembly elections while my brother was contesting in the elections by threatening to highlight this issue. Now they are demanding again 9 lakh,” he added.
