JAMB: ‘Professor’ Jailed for Trying to Write UTME for His Daughter

‘Professor’ Jide Josiah Jisos has been sentenced to six months in prison for impersonation during the 2019 Unified Graduate Examination (UTME).

Joint Admission and Qualification Board (JAMB) officials arrested Jisos while he was monitoring the 2019 UTME at Brix Academy. Abuja.

JAMB Spokesperson Fabian Benjamin said Chief Magistrate Judge Folashade Oyekan in Wuse District 2 said: Abujaannounced his decision.

Oyekan found Jisos guilty of a single charge of impersonation and sentenced him to six months imprisonment with the option of a N100,000 fine.

Benjamin stated this in a statement on Sunday, November 3, according to Vanguard.

‘Prof,’ said Benjamin. Jisos had introduced himself as a representative of a non-governmental organization (NGO), claiming that he was there to supervise the investigation.

“However, his deception was exposed in the examination hall when the monitoring team leader asked him to explain his motives.

“Unable to prove his allegations, Jisos was arrested and handed over to security personnel for further investigation. “During interrogation, he admitted that he was not affiliated with any NGO and was actually present in the examination hall to help his daughter take the 2019 UTME exam.”

However, the JAMB spokesperson did not disclose the day the court made the decision against the suspect.

Meanwhile, legit.ng reported this JAMB arrests a father for writing the ongoing 2024 UTME for his son.

JAMB registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, said the examination body had facilities to check impersonation and malpractices.

While Oloyede enthusiastically said that JAMB is ahead of impersonators and exam cheaters, he lamented the parenting style of this generation.
