Authorities say woman destroyed $1,000 worth of strangers’ Halloween decorations

Authorities say woman destroyed ,000 worth of strangers’ Halloween decorations

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG/Gray News) – A woman in Ohio was caught on camera hitting and tearing a Halloween display in front of a home.

“I don’t know what happened. There was speculation, but I hope he gets the treatment he needs,” said host Shannon Zeller.

Around 9 a.m. on October 7, a woman went on a devastating rampage outside the Zeller family’s home, throwing and trashing their Halloween decorations. Neighbors reported that the fire lasted for more than half an hour.

“They said someone was in our yard and destroyed all our decorations,” Zeller said.

The Zeller family estimates the woman caused approximately $1,000 in damage. However, they said some items were priceless.

He said that they made some of the decorations together with their children, and that they carried the memories of their son, who died in a motorcycle accident last year.

“To tell you the truth, I cried like a baby. “I cried like a baby and felt bad because of the memories of some of the items he broke,” Zeller said.

Toledo police arrested 48-year-old Christina Horvath in connection with the destruction of the Zellers exhibit. The Zellers reported that they had never met Horvath before.

He faces criminal damage and theft charges as the video also shows him placing various items from the property into his vehicle.

He had previously been booked into the Lucas County Jail two weeks before the incident for allegedly throwing a rock through the windshield of a vehicle.

Meanwhile, the Zellers are playing for damage.

Mimicking Miley Cyrus’ music video, they wrote “She Came in Like A Wreckin’ Ball” on a sign next to a skeleton riding a wrecking ball.

“So I said, ‘Well, what can I do to keep it as it is and make it fun and kind of make it light? “I hope everyone can see that we are making light of a sad situation,” Zeller said.
