A Canadian police officer was suspended on Monday after he was seen joining pro-Khalistani groups in attacking Hindus at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton.

The suspended police officer, identified as Harinder Sohi, was caught on camera holding a Khalistan flag while protesters chanted anti-India slogans. He served as a Sergeant with the Peel Regional Police.

Peel Regional Police confirmed they were aware of an online video showing an off-duty officer actively participating in the demonstration.

“This officer has since been suspended from duty under the Community Safety and Policing Act,” Media Relations Officer Richard Chin said in a statement to CBC.

This statement comes amid the ongoing turmoil over Sunday’s attack by Khalistani elements on the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton.
