In custody after stabbing in Coventry

COVENTRY — Shortly after midnight Friday, Coventry police officers were dispatched to a South Street address to investigate a disturbance and found a male lying on the side of the road with stab wounds.

The disturbance began at a nearby home where two men and a woman were located. The defendant entered the residence and caused a disturbance. The disturbance then turned physical and the male victim was injured after being attacked with a knife. The other male fled the scene but later surrendered to Coventry police.

Daniel Chagnot, 48, of 65 South Road, Bolton, has been charged in connection with the incident. He was held on $50,000 bail and appeared in court on Nov. 1. Chagnot’s bond was increased to $250,000 and he is being held in the Department of Corrections, according to CT Judicial records.

Chagnot was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree threatening, disorderly conduct, second-degree criminal mischief and trespassing.
