Floyd grand jury declines to indict man arrested on the run

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — In other news, a man arrested last month in connection with the search for a wanted suspect was cleared of the crime.

Prestonsburg Police were searching for 34-year-old Kenneth Kyle Greer of Prestonsburg after he fled after allegedly leading police on a chase that reached speeds of up to 120 miles per hour. He was arrested four days later on his way to the Floyd County Courthouse to surrender.

The man who drove her there, Jorden Hall, 34, of Salyersville, was also arrested and charged with evading police and hindering prosecution.

But last week, a Floyd County grand jury declined to indict Hall on those charges. A letter from his lawyer states that Hall never intended to evade police or interfere with Greer’s arrest. He said he took him to the courthouse so he could turn himself in.

The letter states that police tried to pull him over, but he was already near the courthouse, so he continued there instead of pulling over immediately.

The grand jury apparently accepted Hall’s version of events and came back with “no real bill” in his case, meaning they couldn’t find any evidence to prosecute him, and dismissed the case.

A copy of the letter is reprinted below.
