15-year-old boy died after suddenly collapsing during a school football match | UK News

The boy was competing in a match at Ashton and Mersey School in Manchester.

15-year-old boy died after falling ill in traffic school football match Manchester.

The schoolboy collapsed while playing a game at Mersey Sales High School, Ashton, on Tuesday evening.

The child was later confirmed dead ‘despite the best efforts of staff and emergency services’, a note from the school said.

The dead boy’s name has not yet been released, but a note sent to parents by bosses at Ashton, Mersey School, confirmed he was a Year 11 pupil at Sale High School.

Ashton, from Mersey School, shared their ‘deep sadness’ at the news of the child’s death.

A message to parents from the headteacher, Mr McConaghie, reads: ‘It is with deep sadness that I write to you with information about a serious incident at Mersey School, Ashton, on Tuesday evening.

’11. A Sale High School student fainted during a class football game.

‘I was later informed that despite the best efforts of staff and emergency services the student had tragically died.

‘Ashton’s thoughts and condolences to the Mersey School community are with the student’s family and friends.’

The school added that all extra-curricular sporting events will be canceled for the remainder of the week.

Sale High School has yet to comment on the deaths of its students.
