KUALA LUMPUR: The Army has confirmed that one of its armored vehicle transport vehicles was involved in an accident at KM35.2 near the Genting Sempah tunnel heading towards Gombak toll plaza.

The vehicle was carrying two armored vehicles belonging to the 7th Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment when the incident occurred at around 16.45 on Thursday, November 7.

“The vehicle was part of six transports carrying 12 armored vehicles from Kem Batu 10 in Kuantan to Kem Syed Sirajuddin in Gemas for advanced combat training.

“The initial report revealed that the transport vehicle was attempting to avoid a trailer that suddenly changed lanes.

“As the road became slippery due to rain, the driver of the transport vehicle lost control of the steering wheel and crossed into the opposite lane.

“There was damage to the transport vehicle’s main carrier, but the driver was not injured while the armored vehicles were not damaged,” the army said in a statement on Thursday. he said.

Other transports in the convoy also managed to continue their journey towards Kem Perdana Sungai Besi.

“Efforts are being made to tow the damaged vehicles and transport the 2 armored vehicles involved in the accident.

The statement said, “We will establish an investigation board to investigate the real cause of the accident.”
