One person in custody following deadly shooting in Plymouth city center

PLYMOUTH – A 41-year-old man was shot and killed in downtown Plymouth Friday night. A 23-year-old person was detained.

Plymouth police said they received multiple calls about a shooting that occurred in the public parking lot on Middle Street around 5:45 p.m. The first officer on scene confronted the suspect and took him into custody without incident.

The victim was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, where he was pronounced dead.

The names of the victim and the detained man were not disclosed.

Police urged people to stay away from Plymouth’s Main Street town center due to the investigation. They said there was no danger to the public.
