Life imprisonment for trio who killed Tongaat teenager

The 16-year-old was attacked four years ago and her body was dumped in a local river.

He was accused of stealing liquor from a tavern in Hambanathi.

Tavern owner and prime suspect Mlungisi Thabethe was killed in a drive-by shooting before the start of the trial.

The National Prosecuting Authority in KZN said the sentences were handed down against the other defendants this week.

The Verulam District Court sentenced Andile Nhleko, Mcedisi Mzobe and Lindani Ndlovu to life imprisonment and various prison terms for murder and kidnapping.

Co-accused Malusi Mthembu was sentenced to 12 years in prison for murder and three years for kidnapping.
