Chilling attempted attack in D.C. sparks immediate manhunt

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in an attempted sexual assault that occurred early July 29 in Northwest Washington, D.C.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. at the intersection of Belmont and 14th Streets NW. The suspect allegedly approached the victim, displayed a firearm, and assaulted the individual while attempting to forcibly perform a sexual act.

The suspect was captured by security cameras and police released the footage in the hope of identifying the person.
