Cuttack DCP says family members of the victim alleged that another person was involved in the incident

In the latest development in the Cuttack gang rape case, Cuttack DCP Jagmohan Meena on Sunday said that the family members of the gang rape victim in Cuttack have alleged that another person was involved in this heinous crime.

Speaking to the media about the development in the case, Meena said: “All the six persons named in the FIR have been arrested. Family members of the victim informed us that another unidentified person was involved in the crime. We were conducting an investigation into this. “If anyone else is found to be involved in the crime, they will be arrested.”

According to DCP Meena, no special security was provided to the family members of the victim.

“If we provide private security to the victim’s family, their identities will be leaked. So we clearly did not ensure security. However, we are in contact with them. According to family members, the victim is in good condition. We will help them if necessary. The victim is at home, under the supervision of his parents,” Meena said.

“The seized mobile phone will be sent to the forensic laboratory to find out whether it contains an obscene video. We have also requested the joint investigation report from the Tehsildar in return for compensation and we will send it soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, it was also claimed that illegal hookah was used in the cafe.

In response, DCP Meena stated that Purighat police will investigate the matter and then necessary action will be taken.

Notably, a few days ago, six people were arrested in Cuttack for allegedly gang-raping a college student repeatedly over several days.

According to the information obtained, the victim girl had celebrated her birthday with her boyfriend at a cafe within Purighat Police limits during Dussehra. Her boyfriend secretly committed an obscene act with the help of the cafe owner living in Bharatpur area.

Later, the cafe owner, her boyfriend and their friends called her to a house in Barang area. There she was gang raped. She was later blackmailed via video and repeatedly raped by the accused.
