Police promise more arrests over RBM contractor’s murder

An alleged hitman was arrested in Gauteng last week in connection with the murder of RBM contractor Sipho Masuku.

He was shot dead in Meerensee in August.

National police spokeswoman Athlenda Mathe said an AK47, one of four guns found in Halalisani Mchunu’s possession, was linked to the businessman’s murder.

“Mchunu has already appeared before the Richards Bay Magistrates Court on charges of murder, attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm. The SAPS task team is pursuing other suspects believed to be involved in this assassination.

“We appreciate the task force’s relentless efforts to work tirelessly to track down those behind the mine theft at RBM and the murders of executives and businessmen associated with the mine,” says Mathe.
