Investigation launched after Cambuslang store employee was threatened with ‘substance’ during robbery

An investigation was launched after a store employee was threatened with a substance during the robbery on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to a store in Glebe Place, Cambuslang, on November 9 after a man stole a sum of money from the till.

The man entered the shop around 16.45, asked for a cigarette and left, claiming that he had forgotten the money.

He returned to the store, demanded money and threatened to throw a substance at the store employee before leaving with some cash.

It is stated that the thief is white, approximately 1.90 tall and has a blond beard on his face. He was wearing a green jacket that covered part of his face, black pants and gray sneakers.

Detective Constable Karen Hay said: “Luckily the shop worker was not injured but was very frightened by what had happened.

“We would urge anyone who has seen the man, knows where he is going or where he might be to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland. 101quote from incident number 2480 You can get in touch by Saturday 9 November or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
