‘JioHotstar is ready to give domain name to Reliance for free’: Dubai brothers share new update

Another development has emerged in the story behind the JioHotstar.com domain name, which now belongs to two young philanthropists Jainam and Jivika sisters living in Dubai. According to their website, the duo seems to have decided to offer the domain name to Reliance for free after careful consideration.

This new and unexpected shift began when Jainam and Jivika bought the space from a Delhi-based developer who had initially registered it in the hope of raising funds for his Cambridge University MBA. The developer’s initial plan to sell the domain name to Reliance fell through when they reportedly rejected the asking price of Rs 1 crore, prompting the developer to list it elsewhere. Having bought the place solely to support their educational goals, Jainam and Jivika now found themselves at the center of unexpected media and public attention.

Amid recent questions about the fate of the domain and its connection to a possible Jio-Hotstar merger, Jainam and Jivika used their platforms to clear up any misunderstandings. “We have recently received a lot of emails from people looking to purchase the domain name,” they shared. “We contacted some of them to check whether these offers were real. We found that some offers were fake, while others were serious and offered a lot of money.” However, Jainam and Jivika emphasized that they never intended to sell the space and made it clear to all potential buyers that the space was not for sale.

The sudden interest and speculation was unexpected, the brothers said. “Over the last few weeks, there has been a lot of talk and even some videos about why we own the domain and whether it is linked to a possible business deal between Jio and Hotstar,” they explained. But they reaffirmed that their sole purpose is to support the developer and use the platform to share their seva (service) journey with their followers. They stated that the JioHotstar domain was merely a tool for good and not a pawn in a corporate deal.

After careful consideration, Jainam and Jivika decided to offer the domain name to Reliance for free. “We are happy to give them JioHotstar.com free of charge along with all necessary paperwork,” they said. Clarifying their stance, they added: “This is entirely our choice. “No one from Reliance or any legal group contacted us or put any pressure on us in any way.” Jainam and Jivika explained that this decision was taken independently, without any outside influence from their friends, family or people in the industry.

To facilitate the process, Jainam and Jivika sent a direct invitation to Reliance to reach them on their email address. In a statement full of true passion and purpose, the brothers shifted the focus of their message to their ongoing philanthropic platform, SevakArmy.com, where they aim to mobilize volunteers around the world. “Our goal is simple but powerful: We want 100,000 people to volunteer just 20 hours a year. This will mean up to 2 million hours of service in the first year; “For example, 1000 people helping NGOs full time for a year.”
