Woman found dead in house fire

A woman has died in a house fire in Greater Manchester.

Police said they were called to the house on Roundthorn Road, Middleton, at around 04:20 GMT on Sunday.

A woman in her 30s was found dead inside, and other emergency services attended the scene.

Greater Manchester Police said: “An investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances.”

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service regional manager Lee Coleman said five engines from stations across the region took part.

He added: “Crews wearing breathing apparatus arrived quickly and used four hose reel jets and a nine-metre ladder to extinguish the fire.

“Fire crews are waiting at the scene.”
