A key witness in the Brian Wainstein murder trial has been “cancelled”, with the killing of Mark Lifman noted as a “triggering point of concern”.

Another hurdle has emerged in the high-profile murder case of “Steroid King” Brian Wainstein in the Western Cape High Court.

The latest delay comes a week after the Nov. 4 killing of suspected underworld kingpin Mark Lifman in George halted the trial process.

On Monday morning, state prosecutor Attorney Mervyn Menigo informed the court that the state’s key witness, Mr.

The court heard the psychiatrist who contacted Mr X wrote in a report that he needed a month of rest and treatment, and Lifman’s murder was noted as a new “anxiety trigger point”.

Lifman was officially removed from the indictment

During Monday’s proceedings, the abbreviated death certificate of the 57-year-old Cape Town property tycoon and businessman was handed over to the court.

This officially removes Lifman, who was free on R100 000 bail at the time of his death, from the indictment.

Lifman, who allegedly played a key role in the lucrative nightclub extortion racket in Cape Town, was shot dead in a drive-by in the car park of the Garden Route Shopping Centre.

The pair, who work as security experts for PPA Security, will return to the George Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for a bail hearing.

Wainstein murder plot

He admitted that he and Adams attended a meeting at Goodhope Tires in Mitchells Plain on August 17, 2017.

Before Wainstein’s murder, there was an assassination attempt on suspected gang boss Ralph Stanfield on July 6, 2017. The state alleges this was due to his close relationship with Wainstein.
