Winnipeg police seized a handgun, ammunition, folding knife and bulletproof vest during a traffic stop at Mountain and McPhillips on Saturday morning.

Around 7 a.m. on Nov. 10, a Dodge Ram pickup truck with four passengers was stopped at a red light at that intersection. When the driver saw a police vehicle behind him, the vehicle accelerated to drive away, WPS said in a news release. Police stopped the vehicle in the 600 block of McPhillips, “clearly” saw the knife and body armor in the vehicle, and found large amounts of fentanyl, meth and cocaine in the truck, as well as more than $9,000 in cash.

Kevin Raymond Scott Yestrau, 42, was charged with trafficking, firearms, weapons and proceeds of crime and taken into custody. Three other Winnipeggers were charged with similar offenses and were released on recognizance, WPS said in the statement.
