Walworth market stabbing suspect in court charged with murder

A man has appeared in court accused of stabbing a 77-year-old man to death in front of shoppers at a south London grocery store.

Hilkiah McLeggan, from Southwark, south London, died at the scene following the attack in East Street, Walworth, on Sunday morning.

Two other people who were seriously injured were taken to hospital, while one of them is in critical condition.

Musse Ali, 66, of no known address, appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court and was also charged with two counts of attempted murder.
