US election live updates: Donald Trump administration taking shape with key appointments underway

Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee and Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, said she thinks “Rick Scott will do a great job” as Senate majority leader.

“If you’re someone who wants this to happen, make sure you call your Senator, make sure you call and say, ‘Hey, I want Rick Scott,'” he says, speaking on the popular conservative YouTube channel. The Benny Show.

Rick Scott is one of three potential picks for Senate majority leader, along with John Thune and John Cornyn.

Republicans flipped the Senate this election and will hold a secret ballot on the leadership role later this week.

An ardent ally of Trump, Scott has received several high-profile endorsements, including from Elon Musk.

Trump has not made any statement so far.
