Hollyoaks fans ‘unravel’ J’s true identity and say dead character is ‘still alive’

Hollyoaks viewers are confident they know who is behind J’s mysterious notes after the Channel 4 soap revealed a new development surrounding dangerous newcomer Rex Gallagher

hollyoaks Fans are convinced they know exactly who the mysterious J is after the Channel 4 soap revealed a new mystery involving Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey). Earlier this week, Freddie Roscoe (Charlie Clapham) learned that Grace Black (Tamara Wall) had lied to him about her daughter Lexi Roscoe’s (Marnie Fletcher) accident; because Grace Black knew her son Curtis Royle (Reuben Shepherd) pushed her and caused it. his head injury.

Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) confronted Rex for ignoring him after he gave his alibi to the police, revealing that he was moved by Freddie and Grace’s drama. Ste later saw Rex talking to Misbah Maalik (Harvey Virdi), where he said he would “make sure there is no sign of her in the house” and assumed they were talking about her late husband James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan).

Ste looked cunning when he confronted Misbah about this. Suspicious, he hurried to take matters into his own hands and entered Misbah’s house to investigate. Misbah returned home looking for clues. Ste demanded he tell him where James was and accidentally pushed him to the ground when the pair got into a fight.

When Ste realized he had killed Misbah, he became distraught and tried to wrap her body in the carpet when Donny Clark (Louis Emerick) arrived. He tried to explain what happened, but Donny was confused; Misbah had never been there.

Donny called the police from Ste for breaking in and Misbah returned home safely. Ste was arrested and taken away while he was in an alarming mental state. Meanwhile, Rex gave his nephew Curtis £100 to stick to the story about Lexi, and it turns out that it was actually Rex who harmed her and caused her epilepsy – although Freddie had overheard him confessing the truth.

Before Grace knew what had happened, Freddie became enraged and punched Rex. Rex explained that Curtis and Lexi had invented an imaginary friend named ‘J’ and that they would put letters in his bag so they could talk to him.

Rex said Lexi took something dangerous out of Rex’s bag, so she took it from him and he fell to the ground. He left him with a head injury and when Freddie returned home he had a seizure.

Curtis then asked about his friend ‘J’, but Grace was adamant that he didn’t exist. However, the episode ended with a mysterious scene featuring a figure writing a note from J: “I’m still stuck at home – please come quickly.”

Fans appear to think James is still alive despite dying in a car explosion before the Channel 4 series jumps forward a year in September. One fan wrote on social media: “I say James is still alive.”

Another added: “Maybe Curtis and Lexi are writing notes to ‘J’ and why is Rex keeping it secret by giving James letters to give to her?”. Another said: “I think it’s James.”

The handwriting was identical to the notes Ste had found on Rex’s desk earlier. Are Ste’s theories about James all in his head, or is there something more sinister going on?
