Man arrested after deadly attack at Ballyfin Demense hotel in Co Laois – The Irish Times

A man has been arrested for a fatal attack on a man at a five-star luxury hotel. Ballyfin Demense in co laois.

Ballyfin Demense is located in 600 acres of parkland, at the foot of the Slieve Bloom mountains.

It has hosted many notable guests over the years, most notably Kayne West and Kim Kardashian spending their honeymoon here 10 years ago.

George Clooney and his wife Amal also vacationed here in 2019.

Gardaí said they responded to an incident in Ballyfin Demense where a man in his 60s was found dead shortly before 8pm.

A man in his 30s was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a Garda station in the east of the country.

“Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death,” the Garda statement said.

The Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologist’s Office were contacted to attend the scene.

Gardaí said a senior investigating officer had been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room had been set up at Portlaoise Garda Station. A family liaison officer is also expected to be appointed to provide support to the family of the deceased.
