A California man was arrested in Utah on charges of seducing minors and trafficking in harmful materials

DAVIS COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A California man is in custody and charged with seducing a minor and selling harmful material to minors.

Osvaldo Samuel Garcia Godoy, 36, faces one count of seduction of a minor: a first-degree felony count of sexual activity, a second-degree felony, and 13 counts of dealing with material harmful to minors, a third-degree felony.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, authorities Layton Police He launched an online chat operation with the help of Utah Internet Crimes Against Children.

Authorities used a site where sexually explicit advertisements were placed. A person later identified as Garcia Godoy responded to the ad.

“One person started talking to me and didn’t care that I was under 18. The suspect contacted me using his email address…” the statement of probable cause said.

Police said that the suspect’s communication became more intense and he would explain in detail what he wanted to do. Garcia Godoy told police he frequently traveled to Utah for business and would send unsolicited sexually explicit photos of himself.

Police found that he worked for a California-based air conditioning company and used the name Ozzie. Police continued to scour the internet for more information about the suspect.

Authorities in Layton, California were able to provide a driver’s license for Osvaldo Samuel Garcia Godoy.

The probable cause statement states that Garica Godoy will return to Utah on November 12 and wants to pick up the person he thought he was talking to. Police said they planned to meet Garica Godoy at a church building in Layton.

The suspect checked into his hotel and drove to Layton, where police contacted him and arrested him on the above-mentioned charges.

The accusations are merely allegations. All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
