National Bank of Australia leaves big four to forecast May 2025 rate cut

As Central Bank governor Michele Bullock warns that the economy’s continued strength is fueling inflation, expectations are growing that interest rate cuts will come too late to restore the Albanian government’s standing with voters ahead of the election.

NAB cut ties with the rest of the big four banks on Thursday and postponed its forecast for the RBA’s first rate cut from February to May, citing upside risks to inflation and the still-strong jobs market. CBA, ANZ and Westpac still expect the RBA to cut the cash rate from 4.35 per cent to 4.1 per cent in February.
