Narayanganj Police arrested a woman for allegedly killing and beheading a businessman with whom she had an extramarital affair after they broke up, according to the police.

The body of deceased 62-year-old businessman Jasim Uddin Innocent was found by the police in Rupganj yesterday (November 13).

Narayanganj District Police Chief Pratyush Kumar Majumdar said in a press conference today (November 14) that police have arrested a suspect named Ruma Akhter in connection with the murder:

According to SP’s report, Ruma, who was in a romantic relationship with Masum, admitted that she killed him out of anger after a recent breakup.

“He took her to a house in Shyamli, drugged her and then brutally killed her and dismembered her body,” Majumdar said.

Innocent, a resident of Bashundhara Residential Area, was the owner of Chand Dyeing Factory in Narayanganj’s Fatulla area. He was reported missing on November 10 after leaving Gulshan in a car, telling his driver that he would continue to Narayanganj in a different vehicle.
The son later filed a general diary report at Gulshan Police Station after Innocent did not return home and his phone was found switched off.

According to the police, Ruma allegedly took Innocent to a house in Shyamoli on November 10. He killed her while she was unconscious after mixing a sedative in her milk. He then dismembered her body with an ax and dumped the remains in various parts of Purbachal.

Superintendent Majumdar said police were investigating the possibility of other people being involved in the crime.

He said police found the murder weapon.
