Wadena women killed in Cass County crash

The Minnesota State Patrol confirmed that a 31-year-old woman was killed after being involved in a traffic accident Friday morning.

The crash happened just before 11 a.m. on Highway 210 in Cass County, according to a crash report filed by the State Patrol.

There, a 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo was exiting Southwest Scearcyville Road and heading into the eastbound lane of Highway 210.

In the westbound lane of Highway 210, a 2024 Hyundai Elantra made contact with the Chevy, sending both vehicles into the south ditch of Highway 210.

The driver and sole occupant of the Hyundai, a 56-year-old woman from Motley, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

However, the Chevy’s sole passenger, identified as a 31-year-old Wadena woman, was fatally injured and died. His identity is expected to be released by the State Patrol on Saturday at 5 p.m.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the crash was caused by a driver who was not wearing a seatbelt and noted that Motley’s woman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
