In April, Joe announced he was dating, previously saying ‘people think I’m gay because of my personality.’

However, he has used the term bisexual to describe his sexuality in the past because he ‘had a hard time explaining his feelings’ and this was ‘easier’.

Joe has been very secretive about his love life, rarely giving any insight and also using a fake name in an attempt to keep his partner’s identity secret.

The TV star announced he was in a new relationship and opened up about his sexuality during the new series of Late Night Lycett on Channel 4.

Speaking on the show in April, he revealed to viewers that he had a mystery girlfriend, after previously saying he had difficulty explaining his sexuality.

Joe explained: ‘A lot has changed since the last series, I have some news that I have a girlfriend.

‘I’ve been talking about being bisexual for years but people think I’m gay based on my whole personality… yes I have a girlfriend and people have been very nice about it.’

add on Bimini Bon-Boulash’s podcast The PiecesJoe gave a rare insight into his love life as he talked about using a fake name to keep his partner’s identity secret.

He said: ‘So I got Winston the cat and Denise my partner. Her name isn’t Denise, but I don’t talk about her because she has a job where she can’t be in the public eye.

‘I call her Denise because she hates the name Denise, so I live with Denise.’

Joe, who has spoken openly about his sexuality in the past, later went on to talk about his pansexuality with the former Ru Paul’s Drag Race star.

He shared: ‘It’s interesting being in a long-term relationship with a woman right now because a lot of people are like, sorry what happened?

Joe continued: ‘There was a brief period when I was at school where I thought I was gay because I liked boys and then I was like ‘whoa, whoa, whoa, wait’.’

‘So when someone asks, I use the term bisexual and I want to give a quick answer because people understand that.

‘But I think the most accurate way to describe myself is pansexual, meaning I’m not attracted to people just because of their gender.’

Joe went on to say that he finds it difficult to explain his sexuality at times: ‘I also don’t know how it works because I don’t know how it works? As in, I don’t know how explaining this to idiots works.

‘Cause it’s hard to go, well, no, sometimes I’m attracted to men but not all men. And this usually has nothing to do with the fact that they are men.

‘It often seems like a good body is enough, you know? Small abdominal muscles. Yep, that’s it. Lines. The trunk is dangerous. It’s a very nice arm.

‘Yes, it doesn’t matter what your gender is. And I don’t know why this is, but that’s the way it is. This is weird because to me it shows that sexuality isn’t just about men and women.

‘So my intellectual side goes towards pansexuality, which means everything. That’s how I feel about myself.’

On Friday, Joe announced he was a first-time father by sharing a sweet photo of himself cradling his newborn son on Instagram.

Alongside the photo, Joe wrote on Instagram: ‘A tribute from me to the amazing @bham_womens hospital.

‘My first encounter with them was years ago when they operated on a friend of mine and most recently when they expertly welcomed a little boy into the world, my son.

‘The care and affection he and his mother received was extraordinary; from antenatal classes, wonderful midwives, counselors, doctors, nurses and ongoing care in the community. We also loved their baked potatoes. Birmingham is so lucky to have them and I will be forever grateful for everything they do.

‘I LOVE being a dad but unfortunately I think this means I can’t leave Rob and Josh’s damn podcast anymore. ‘As we have already sold the rights to the first family photo to Autotrader, we will not receive any requests from the press about this.’

He said: 'I've been talking about being bisexual for years but people think I'm gay based on my whole personality... yes I have a girlfriend and people have been very nice about it.'

In the adorable footage, Joe can be seen wrapping his black coat around the boy, who is wearing a blue knitted hat as they take a stroll outside.

Fans were quick to send their congratulations to the comic, although many suspected it might have been an elaborate prank for which the star was well known.

Comments included: ‘I don’t know if this is satire or not but either way I’m here for it.’

‘Congratulations, but I also think that’s you and that inside that hat could easily be a puppy/kitten/transmission.’

‘Congratulations!! (Unless this is an elaborate joke, congratulations!)’

‘With Lycett involved, I never know what’s real and what’s not.’

However, Birmingham Women’s Hospital added a friendly comment saying, ‘Many congratulations to you all again.’ We are proud to support you in this incredible life-changing milestone. We wish you all the best for the future and many wonderful hugs.’
