Dasuki gives 200 scholarships, empowers farmers, women — Nigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

At the landmark event held at the Laziz Hall in Tambuwal, Sokoto State, Hon. Federal MP Abdussamad Dasuki, representing Kebbe/Tambuwal, announced a multi-pronged initiative to promote education, agriculture and women empowerment.

This comprehensive £27.5 million program includes 200 scholarships for university students, the provision of essential agricultural inputs for farmers and financial grants to constituency women’s groups.

The Abdussamad Dasuki Scholarship Program, which entered its final phase on Friday, provided scholarships to 200 university students. Recipients with GPA of 3.00 and above were rewarded for academic excellence, while students with lower GPA were encouraged to improve through support.

In addition, dasuki Announced fully-funded scholarships for 20 to 30 students to pursue postgraduate studies in Information Technology and Public Health at Iconic University, targeting poor first-degree students. Costing up to £600,000 per student, the initiative aims to make further education accessible to those who deserve it.

Additionally, as part of the 2024 Strategic Strengthening Program for its constituency, dasuki He crossed 21 wards of Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency and distributed hundreds of water pumping machines for irrigation and hundreds of bags of fertilizer to 700 voters.

Cash aid was also provided to dozens of women’s groups within the scope of voter empowerment programs.

Speaking at the event, Dasuki, who is also Santurakin Sokoto, reiterated his commitment to ensure that no university student from his constituency drops out because of inability to pay school fees, adding that he will continue to reward students with high GPA. .

Dasuki assured the students that the one among them who gets a good GPA will be sponsored abroad for further studies, just like what was done for two students with very high GPA in 2022.

Highlighting the importance of education, Dasuki said he would continue to support the educational pursuits of young people in his constituency, thus enabling them to compete favorably for opportunities with their peers in different parts of the country and around the world.

He expressed strong optimism that his investment in human development through scholarship and business empowerment would lead to the development of Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency.

Earlier in the year, in a bid to support small business owners, including farmers, traders and artisans, and improve the livelihoods of people in Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency, Dasuki distributed grants to some small and medium business owners.

In August, checks were distributed to beneficiaries in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Grant tagged ‘Coming’, which aims to help people living in the Kebbe/Tambuwal federal constituency weather the current economic crisis and become self-sufficient.
