Oyo agency creates 20,000 jobs through 66 projects – Official – News – The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

The Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA) has announced that 66 ongoing micro projects in communities in Oyo State have created 20,000 jobs for community members with skills in carpentry, masonry, plumbing and electrical engineering, among others.

Chairman, Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA), Abideen Adetokunbo Adeaga, disclosed this at a one-day capacity building workshop for heads of 34 local government areas, Heads of Local Government Administrations (HLGAs) and Desk Officers. It depends on OYCSDA’s microprojects, where communities implement projects with financial intervention from the agency.

Thanking Governor Seyi Makinde for allocating funds for micro projects, Adeaga explained that the projects include the construction or renovation of community health centres, supply of beds, furniture and hospital equipment, construction or renovation of classrooms and toilet blocks, teachers and students. furniture and VIP toilets, drilling of boreholes and construction of culverts and line drains to combat erosion.

Speaking on behalf of the other council presidents, Lagelu Local Government President said in his speech that they were satisfied with the development in the relevant local government areas where the projects are located and promised to support the implementation of the projects. over time and the standard is maintained.

Mr. Salau Jelili, Director General of OYCSDA, noted that one of the core principles of the World Bank supported programs through the Nigerian Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) is synergy and collaboration between stakeholders and institutions. He added that the objectives of the workshop include empowering local government administrators with the knowledge, skills and techniques to take responsibility for the development of their people.

He also addressed the Agency’s Local Empowerment and Environmental Management Project (LEEMP), “OYCSDA: Success Story,” in which he cataloged the achievements of NG-CARES from the CSDP days to the present day.

The second resource person was Alhaji Amidu Adepoju, former Operations Manager of OYCSDA, who spoke on “Roles and Responsibilities of the Local Government Review Committee and Local Government Authority in the Implementation of NG-CARES Projects”.

Special guests at the event include Prof. Akinola Ojo, represented by the State Commissioner for Finance, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Giwa Babatunde, who is the Chairman of the NG-CARES/OYO-CARES Steering Committee. Musibau Babatunde, Mr. Olatunji Daramola, represented by the Resident Director of Records and Investigations, Mr. Salisu Olaonipekun, and the Auditor General of Oyo State, Mr. Ajose Alirat.
