IPL auction: Jofra Archer out but James Anderson on 574-player shortlist

IPL auction: Jofra Archer out but James Anderson on 574-player shortlist

BCCI has announced the final list of 574 players who will take part in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Players were filtered for auction from a total of 1574 to 574 registered players. Surprisingly, England’s fast forward Jofra Archer was not included in the final player list. Although Archer is not named, 42-year-old James Anderson makes the cut with a base price of Rs 1.25 billion. Archer was registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction at a base price of 2 billion rupees but failed to make it to the final list.

The 10 franchises have a total of 204 slots to fill, 70 of which are for foreign players. The final IPL 2025 auction list also excludes Cameron Green, who was earlier part of the high-profile mega trade deal between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians. The trade saw RCB secure the Australian all-rounder for a hefty sum of Rs 17 million. However, Green is not on the auction list due to recent surgery for a long-standing lower back stress fracture.

Jofra Archer misses

Archer, 28, has been hampered by a series of elbow and back injuries over the past few years, making it difficult to stay fit. This summer, however, he has managed to put in consistent performances in white-ball cricket starting in May, through the T20 World Cup, The Hundred and then the limited-overs series against Australia. The retired Anderson will be hoping to be selected in the auction and make his IPL debut at the age of 42.
