1 of 2 teenagers accused of killing Washington High School student in 2023 found guilty

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – One of two teenagers charged 17-year-old Washington High School student shot to death He was found guilty by a jury last year.

Esequiel Trejo Jr., 18, of South Bend, was found guilty Friday of accessory to murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the July 10, 2023, death of Luis Hernandez-Acosta.

Police were called early that morning A shooting in the 500 block of S. Carlisle Street. Hernandez-Acosta was pronounced dead at the scene.

Surveillance cameras in the area showed two men running from the scene and hiding in the backyard, according to court documents. Investigators identified them as Trejo and Edwin Torres-Becerril.

Torres-Becerril was charged in the killing of Hernandez-Acosta last July. His next hearing will be held on November 25.

Trejo Jr. He will be sentenced on December 11.
