Woman’s body found in car boot in east London – as murder investigation launched by two police forces | UK News

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman’s body was found in the boot of a car in east London.

Detectives said a murder investigation has been launched into the “suspicious” discovery in Ilford.

Police said the woman, who has not been named but is from Corby in Northamptonshire, may have been the victim of a “targeted incident”.

“Fast track” investigations were launched after a member of the public contacted police with concerns about the woman’s welfare.

This led to the discovery of a body in the trunk of the car.

Northamptonshire Police said: “The investigation is ongoing and police activity will continue in various locations including Corby and Ilford throughout the weekend.

“Although we believe this was a targeted incident and there is no wider risk to the public, further patrols will be carried out in Corby for reassurance over the coming days.”

Detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit major crime team and the Metropolitan Police are working on the case to establish the circumstances leading to the woman’s death.
