Chaos clouds SEC Power Rankings after Week 12

Chaos clouds SEC Power Rankings after Week 12

The SEC standings may be topped by a pair of teams from the Lone Star State, but there’s plenty of debate about those teams’ standing in the conference. After Week 12, an argument can be made for some teams to be considered the best in the SEC.

Many teams with two losses have a stronger argument to be considered the best team in the conference than Texas and Texas A&M. But with two weeks left in the regular season, these teams could be carving out their own path to the SEC championship game and the College Football Playoff.

They may have the best records in the conference, but they are not the two best teams in the conference at this point in the season.

Here’s a look at this week’s SEC power rankings.

The Tigers were unstoppable in the final minute after taking the lead with 1:10 left in the game.

Week 12: Lost to Florida 27-16

When you look at the ballot box results, you see that there is no reason for LSU to lose this game. They dominated time of possession and held Florida to under 350 yards of offense for the game. But here we are. The Tigers were inefficient offensively and failed to make big plays. and had to settle for field goals.

Week 12: Arkansas beat Razorbacks 20-10

The strength of Texas’ schedule has been hotly debated all year, and the one thing they continue to do is win. They didn’t have many style points, but they did get a solid win over a worn-out team from Arkansas on Saturday. Still, it’s hard to know how good the Longhorns are at this point in the season.

In the Longhorns’ only significant game against the Georgia Bulldogs, they lost by two points. The Longhorns dropped a point this week after the Bulldogs picked up a head-to-head victory over Texas.

Week 12: bye week

Coming off a bye, the Rebels will look to keep their playoff hopes alive as they travel to Gainesville to face a surging Florida team. Before the bye week, Ole Miss beat Georgia by 18 points. Although this early season loss to Kentucky was painful, Ole Miss looks like the best team in the SEC right now.
