Two men have been charged with murder by police after a man was fatally stabbed in Hamilton, Newcastle

Two men have been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Newcastle at the weekend.

The alleged incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning in the suburb of Hamilton, just four kilometers west of Newcastle’s CBD.

Emergency services were called to Beaumont Street at around 2.40am, where a 22-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds.

The man was taken to hospital and died a short time later.

Strike Force Mannum was set up by Newcastle City Police District to investigate the man’s death.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at Waratah Police Station at around 11am on Monday.

The North Lambton man has been charged with murder and was refused bail in Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday.

Approximately six hours later at 5.10pm, a 33-year-old woman was arrested at a bus stop in Bankstown and taken to Bankstown Police Station.

The woman was charged with murder and refused bail in Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday.

Investigations within the scope of Strike Force Mannum continue.
