SOUTHINGTON, CT (WFSB) — A suspect has been arrested in connection with the theft of a silver Toyota Corolla on November 12.

Members of the Southington Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, in coordination with the Patrol Unit, responded to reports of the stolen vehicle.

Officers searched the southern part of town and found the car parked in a rest area on westbound Interstate 84 where two people lived.

When officers attempted to approach the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Michael Anatasio, 36, of East Haven, attempted to flee but soon realized the car was stationary.

Both Anatasio and his passenger complied with police instructions and were taken into custody without incident.

While there were no injuries in the incident, there was minimal damage to the vehicle.

Antasio was charged with second-degree larceny of a motor vehicle, third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal larceny, possession of burglar’s tools and interfering with a police officer.

He is being held on $50,000 bail and is due in court on November 13, 2024.
