Jasper County EMA launches new smartphone app – Newton Daily News

Want to know what to expect from the latest severe weather event in Jasper County? There’s now an app for that.

The Jasper County Emergency Management Agency announced the release of a new, dedicated smartphone app. According to the press release, the Jasper Ready app will serve as an innovative way for the Jasper County EMA to connect with residents and visitors by providing information quickly and efficiently.

Developed by myEMAapp.comThe Jasper Ready app, a brand of OCV, LLC, a company specializing in mobile application development for emergency management agencies and public safety organizations in the United States, provides quick access to items of public interest.

In addition to providing the most up-to-date emergency alerts, the app is packed with preparedness materials for all kinds of emergencies, from floods and house fires to chemical emergencies and even nuclear explosions. There is also a district directory and a link where you can report a school threat anonymously.

Users can also report storm damage and develop their own preparedness plans that include a checklist of what to bring. There is also a link to submit volunteer applications and current weather forecast information in Jasper County. Users can also decide whether they want notifications after downloading the app.

“More than 80 percent of people in the United States own smartphones and use them as their primary means of communication,” said OCV Partner and CRO Kevin Cummings. “Mobile apps give agencies a better way to alert, inform and prepare the public. Apps allow public safety agencies to reach and serve citizens wherever they are: on their smartphones.”

Jasper Ready can be downloaded for free from the App Store and Google Play by searching for “Jasper Ready” in the search bar.

Jamey Robinson, Jasper County EMA Executive Director, said the app revolutionizes emergency management by providing real-time alerts, community notifications and critical resources. It’s a one-stop tool for staying informed, making quick decisions, and accessing life-saving information in emergency situations.

“By improving communications, increasing preparedness and increasing response efficiency, we aim to create safer, more resilient communities and ultimately save lives,” Robinson said.
