MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two former Memphis Police Officers indicted after being accused of causing a fatal crash during a police chase last year will appear in court Tuesday morning.

Former police officers Ontarian Malone and Marquavation Williams left the scene of the crash without rendering assistance, according to court records. The indictment also states that the former officers used a police vehicle as a “battering ram” to force the pursued vehicle to stop.

The police pursuit began even though there was no evidence that the driver violated any traffic laws, records show.

The document does not explain where the accident occurred. But on On May 6 last year, WREG reported in a fiery, high-speed crash on Park Boulevard in Orange Mound that killed one woman and injured four others. At the time, police said the incident may have been the result of a pursuit.
