Man convicted in 2023 fatal shooting in Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) — 35-year-old man found guilty killing another man in Rochester last July.

On July 21, 2023, Herley Williams walked up to Todd Jones, also 35, and shot him in the chest as he stood at the corner of North Goodman Street and Diringer Place in broad daylight, according to prosecutors. Jones was later found dead at the scene by police officers.

Williams was arrested 11 days later and found with an illegal gun. According to prosecutors, Jones and Williams knew each other.

On Tuesday, Williams was formally convicted of second-degree murder and three counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He will be sentenced on January 17.
