Years After Making Her Mark on GAF, Danica McKellar Explains the Reasons for Her Decision: 'I'm So Grateful for This'

I liked 15 movies with him on the Hallmark Channel. When he left to start his own network and asked me to come along, I said, ‘Yes.’

I also never had an overall deal at Hallmark. And I had multi-picture deals with Great American. They allowed me to be more involved in my writing and production. It’s so creative and satisfying. The fact that I have made two dance films because I want to make dance films, I like being involved more. It is a smaller network. I know it has fewer viewers at this point. But it’s growing and they’ve given me the opportunity to reflect on my faith in some stories. (This is) a really great situation. I’m so grateful for that, and I’m so grateful to Bill, too.

McKellar’s announcement that he would be leaving Hallmark may have come as a surprise, but it makes sense. His agreement at GAF allows him to have a much greater say in the projects he undertakes. That kind of creative input, combined with his long-standing partnership with Bill Abbott, makes this move a lot of sense.
