The US decision to supply anti-personnel mines to Ukraine and allow US-supplied long-range missiles to be fired at Russian territory may come too late, according to Michael Bociurkiw, global affairs analyst at the Atlantic Council.

He told the BBC that these decisions showed the Biden administration recognized what was happening on the front lines, but “I would say it’s too late for that.”

He says there is a high expectation on the Ukrainian side that these weapons will be used to attack the Russian military headquarters and “Putin’s pet project” Kerch bridge, which is used to supply Russian troops.

However, he said that it was not clear how big a difference this would make in the later stages of the game, and stated that he was in Ukraine for most of the war and said, “I can say that I have never been this worried.”

He said scenes in Odessa, where he normally resides, were “apocalyptic” after at least people were killed in an attack on a residential building in the Ukrainian port city on MondayAccording to local authorities, 10 people died and 47 people were injured.

“As we were talking, I heard anti-aircraft fire literally seconds before. We are currently under drone attack in Kiev, like many other Ukrainian cities. “There has been no decrease in violence over the last few days,” says Bociurkiw.
