Man found competent to stand trial for capital murder in 2021 Mobile stabbing

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A judge ruled today that a Mobile man has mental competency to stand trial for capital murder in the 2021 stabbing of a man in South Mobile.

Prosecutors allege Breore Williams broke into Robert Ragona’s home in December 2024 and stabbed the 69-year-old man to death.

Williams pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

Today’s decision was limited to whether the defendant is currently competent or not. The jury will decide whether Williams had the mental capacity to form intent at the time of the stabbing.
