Stand-up comedian Utsav Dixit arrested over Porsche crash in Hyderabad

Stand-up comedian and businessman Ustav Dixit was arrested over the Porsche crash that took place at KBR Park in the city on Sunday.

Hyderabad Police said in a statement on Sunday that they arrested 33-year-old Dixit, a resident of Banjara Hills.

His luxury car crashed into the fence of KBR Park in Banjara Hills on Friday morning. He fled the scene after the accident.

The accident caused serious damage to the boundary wall, grilles and pavement.

According to Banjara Hills Deputy Commissioner of Police S Venkat Reddy, preliminary investigation revealed that the collision occurred due to careless driving resulting in loss of control of the vehicle.

The incident occurred around 5.45 in the morning and was revealed when a citizen called 100 and the patrol police intervened at the scene.

A suo-moto case was registered following a complaint by police personnel on patrol that a red colored Porsche car crashed into the boundary wall of KBR park, hit a tree and caused serious damage to the wall, grilles and pavement.

Police teams could not find the license plate of the vehicle. During the subsequent search, a broken license plate was found inside the car.

“The front part of the vehicle and its wheels were damaged. “The driver of the car ran away,” the police officer said in his statement.

The ACP said the suspect was traced and arrested after the available evidence was verified and sent for alcohol and drug tests and other procedures as per legal provisions.

The police seized his driving license and sent him to the relevant Road Transport Officer (RTO) for disqualification under Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Police have booked Dixit under sections 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), section 184 (punishments for dangerous driving) and section 3 (causing damage) of the Motor Vehicles Act. He was arrested under the scope of mischief. Implementation of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (KDPP) Act to public property.

ACP stated that legal procedures were followed to address both property damage and Dixit’s alleged violations.
