Mahindra to Launch New Electric SUV Range – XEV 9e and BE 6e – Here’s Why You Should Be Excited

We’re about to witness the grand launch of two all-new, electric-based SUVs. mahindra – XEV 9e And BE 6e – At the ‘India Without Borders’ event in Chennai on 26 November. These eSUVs will not only revolutionize the Indian automotive space but also make India an automotive powerhouse to follow in the near future. Built from Scratch

The XEV 9e and BE 6e, which will be launched under the ‘Borderless India’ theme, are exclusively under Mahindra’s new electric branding. Mahindra has partnered with more than 250 global partners to bring the best of the best global technology to our country. Thanks to the new INLGO electric-derived architecture featuring the industry’s lightest flat-bottom skateboard structure, these eSUVs are likely to offer a generous cabin experience, enhanced comfort, a roomy trunk and ample space to accommodate high-performance electric motors.

Both of these eSUVs will feature an advanced structural design that integrates the battery pack under the body, creating a protective cage around the passenger cabin. INGLO electrically welded architecture uses ultra-high-strength boron steel and reinforced front structures designed to withstand high-impact crashes. This will give passengers a sense of safety and security.

Class A Design

The XEV 9e and BE 6e electric SUV coupes feature a coupe-SUV roofline and look very similar to the concept versions as shown in the teasers. BE 6e looks stylish with its pointed bodywork, C-shaped LED daytime running lights and slim bumper. The XEV 9e, on the other hand, has LED DRLs connected in an inverted L shape and connected LED taillights.

Futuristic Cabin

We caught a glimpse of the interiors of the XEV 9e and BE 6e eSUVs in the latest teasers. The XEV 9e will feature a triple-display setup (including digital driver display, touchscreen and passenger display), while the BE 6e will come with dual integrated displays. Both models feature a 2-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logos and a panoramic sunroof.

Advanced Features

Both these electric-based SUVs are expected to not only come with segment-first features but also include high-end technologies typically found in SUVs, costing up to Rs 1 crore. In addition to integrated display setups, these eSUVs are likely to also offer a premium audio system and advanced connected car features, many of which are available on the current Mahindra XUV700.

The XEV 9e and BE 6e are expected to offer world-class safety not only with solid build quality but also advanced safety features such as multiple airbags, 360-degree camera, ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).

Class-Leading Performance and Range

These new electric origin SUVs from Mahindra will be offered with two battery pack options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. These battery packs are made from LFP chemistry and feature standardized cell-to-pack technology to ensure durability, safety and long-term reliability. According to Mahindra, both these battery packs will support DC fast charging up to 175 kW, which can charge the batteries from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes. Thanks to the intelligent battery and thermal management system, these batteries maintain optimum performance and sustainable driving range over multiple charging cycles. We can expect the batteries to offer a claimed range of between 450km and 500km on a single charge.

To further increase the stability of these eSUVs, the battery pack is placed at a low center of gravity. The battery setup will be paired with a compact three-in-one powertrain that integrates motor, inverter and transmission, delivering outstanding performance with outputs from 231 PS to 285 PS for rear-wheel drive drivers. Roadholding will be further improved with a semi-active suspension system and brake-by-wire technology.
