UNSC will hold a meeting on October 28 regarding Israel’s attack on Iran — source – World

UNITED NATIONS, 27 October. /TASS/. The United Nations Security Council will convene for a meeting on October 28 regarding Israel’s attack on Iran, a source from the world organization told TASS.

“At three o’clock in the afternoon (7:00 GMT) on October 28, the United Nations Security Council will hold a meeting on the Middle East at the request of Algeria, China and Iran, which is supported by China,” the source said.

On Saturday, Iran’s mission to the United Nations asked Switzerland, as head of the UN Security Council, to call an emergency meeting following Israel’s attack.

Apart from this, the Iranian mission called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the Security Council to take a decisive stance and strongly and clearly condemn the Israeli attack. Tehran also emphasized that it reserves the right to legitimate retaliation.

On October 26, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had carried out surgical strikes on military targets in Iran “in response to months of attacks.” The Iranian military also said some of its facilities in Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam provinces were attacked, but Israel said it caused only limited damage because the country’s air defense systems deflected the main blow.

On October 1, the Islamic Republic launched a massive missile attack on Israel in response to the killings of senior officials from the Palestinian movement Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. According to the Israeli side, around 180 bullets were fired and most of them were stopped. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned that attacks against Israel could only be expanded further.
