Four Reasons Why Travis Hunter Should Win the Heisman

Four Reasons Why Travis Hunter Should Win the Heisman

Every year there is a lot of debate and fanfare over who will win college football’s most coveted individual award. There really shouldn’t be much controversy this year. The winning dunk should and should be Travis Hunter. Let’s take a look at why.

Travis Hunter Should Be the Heisman Favorite

Team, Team, Team

Borrowing from Legendary Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler The person who always puts the team above everything else. In this case, the Heisman winner needs to be on a good team. Not necessarily a national championship team, but a good team. Currently, the Colorado Buffaloes are 8-2 on the season and have a good chance of making the college football playoff.

To achieve that, the Buffs will need to prevail, and that includes winning the BIG 12 championship game, assuming they get there. If they can do that, Hunter will no doubt be a big reason why.

availability

There’s an old saying that the best talent is availability, and for Hunter, it rings true. Hunter plays nearly every move on offense and defense.

One might think that offensive numbers would be negatively affected by this much usage, but it is not. Offensively, he has 74 receptions for 911 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 12.3 yards per catch. Defensively, Hunter has 24 tackles, three interceptions and eight interceptions.

Marketing

If anyone is considering playing for Coach Deion Sanding Machines If Hunters aren’t going to help the Heisman campaign, they don’t understand football. Sanders is a tremendous personality, to say the least, and what he has to say carries some weight. His son, Shadeur, is having a good year but isn’t at the top of the list of Heisman candidates, so Sanders is backing Hunter to avoid splitting the vote to give the trophy to someone else.

Until recently, it looked like Boise State running back Ashton Jeffrey He was the favorite to take home the Heisman hardware, but Hunter surpassed him and is now the favorite. It will be very interesting to see how the voting plays out as both players are negatively affected by being in the west.

TV and Program Producers

The networks and showrunners did Hunter a favor at the end of the season. The remaining two regular season games will both be watched by much of the country, given that the Buffs play Kansas this weekend at 3:30 Eastern and Oklahoma State next Saturday at noon Eastern.

More eyes on the team, and Hunter in particular, will only help his Heisman campaign unless he fails. However, this is unlikely as both opponents have poor defense and throw a lot of balls, which will give Hunter numerous opportunities to showcase his skills.

Fundamentally, Hunter has an opportunity to put the trophy on the shelf within the next two weeks. Let’s not doubt for a moment that his coaches and teammates will do everything they can to make him look good and Heisman worthy. We’re making an educated guess that he’ll be uninstalling the hardware in New York.
