New Jersey man charged with attempted murder after stabbing at local business





OAKLAND, New Jersey — A 34-year-old man is facing attempted murder and weapons charges after he allegedly stabbed a man at an Oakland business Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The incident occurred on Nov. 21 at approximately 2:56 p.m., when Oakland Police responded to a reported stabbing at 455 Ramapo Valley Road. Police teams arriving at the scene found the 53-year-old man injured with a knife while the suspect was running away.

Police quickly captured the alleged attacker, identified as Jose Higinio Ramos Solis of Oakland, a short distance from the scene. The injured person, whose condition has not yet been disclosed, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Ramos Solis allegedly approached the victim at work and attacked him with a large knife, according to the Bergen County District Attorney’s Office. Following an investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office Serious Crimes Unit and the Oakland Police Department, Ramos Solis was charged with attempted first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Ramos Solis is being held in the Bergen County Jail awaiting his first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
