FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – One person is dead and two people are hospitalized after an attack and shooting early Saturday morning.

It all started just after 2:15 a.m. when Fargo Police were dispatched to the 5500 block of 36th Avenue South for a report of an aggravated assault and a shooting. Responding officers learned that the suspect chased the victim into an occupied neighboring unit and shots were fired.

One person in that unit was hit by gunfire and two people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. FLOCK camera system The vehicle used to determine which direction the suspect might have gone was found on the side of the road in the 800 block of 34th Street North.

Red River Valley SWAT’s armored Bearcat was used to approach the suspect and attempt to make contact, but officers said the suspect was unresponsive.

The regional drone team was called in to take a closer look, and officers said the suspect was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
